MotoGP: Marc Marquez wins the Italian GP for Ducati in Mugello

The world champion of MotoGP six times beat brother Alex and Fabio Di Giannantonio to sweep the podium for the local manufacturer Ducati.

Marc Marquez de Ducati won the Italian Grand Prix after a dog fight for podium places on the Mugello circuit, taking the checkered flag in front of his brother Alex to maintain his iron grip on the MotoGP runner championship.

Alex Marquez de Gresini Racing briefly conducted the race early on Sunday before Marc took control, while Fabio Di Giannantonio de VR46 Racing claimed third place after having snatched the last podium place from his Italian compatriot Francesco Bagnaia.

The favorite of Maison Bagnaia also led the race in the first stages, but the Ducati d’Esine rider, who had won the last three races in Mugello, was overshadowed by the Marquez brothers and could only finish fourth in front of her fans at home.

Marc Marquez’s victory was also the 93rd victory of his career in all classes, corresponding to his motorcycle number, and the Spaniard celebrated by planting a Ducati flag in front of fans of the house who saw him as a rival when he was with Honda.

“Found incredible … Three ducatis on the podium, to win here (in Mugello) in the red,” said Marc, who now leads Alex with 40 points while Bagnaia is 110 points in third.

Bagnaia denied home victory
