Novak Djokovic believes that Wimbledon could be its best chance of adding a record title of the 25th Grand Slam to its sparkling CV.
The 38 -year -old man who is tending for his eighth title during this event – if he was successful, he will match Roger Federer’s record – and the first victory of the Grand Chelem since the US Open’s win in September 2023.
Djokovic only went beyond the semi-finals once in six majors since this triumph in New York, when he lost against Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final for the second consecutive year.
Speaking before this year’s tournament at the All England Club, during which Djokovic will face Alexandre Muller de la France in the first round, the former world n ° 1 said: “I would probably agree on Wimbledon could be the best chance (a 25th Grand Chelem).
“Because of the results I had, because of what I feel, how I play Wimbledon – obtaining this mentally additional push and motivation to make the best tennis at the highest level.
“Whether it’s my last dance, I’m not sure, because I’m not sure of Roland Garros (the French Open) or any other slam that I then play.
“My wish is to play for several years, I would like to be in good health physically and also mentally motivated to continue playing at the highest level.
“This is the goal, but you never know at this stage.”
Djokovic, who is now classified sixth in the world, added: “I would say that it is slightly different for me now in terms of I no longer pursue the classification in this regard.
“I try to play the best tennis of the Grand Slam and try to win the Grand Colem. It hasn’t changed.
“Even if my level of tennis increased from top to bottom and fluctuated much more than this was most of my career – if you see last year and a half, I was a little volatile with my results – with a big slam, it remains quite consistent.
“It’s good. It’s a good sign because that’s exactly what I want. These tournaments still give me the biggest drive.
“This year, I played two semi-finals (Grand Chelem). Unfortunately in Australia, I had to retire, at Roland Garros, I was preceded by Jannik Sinner.
“I think I have always played a decent level of tennis which showed me that I can always play at a very high level at the subsequent stages.
