Openai brings a new “light” version of its Chatgpt Deep Research Tool, who travels the web to compile research reports on a subject, to Chatgpt Plus, to the team and to professional users, the company announced on Thursday.
The new light in -depth research, which will also arrive at free chatgpt users from today, is powered by an OpenAi version O4-min Model, says Openai. It is not as capable as “complete” deep research, but Openai claims that it is cheaper to serve and thus allows the company to respect the limits of use.
“The answers will generally be shorter while retaining the depth and quality that you expect,” said OpenAi in a series of messages on X. “Once the limits of the original version of the deep search are reached, the requests are automatically by default the light version.”
The light version of deep research is propelled by a version of Openai O4-Mini and is almost as intelligent as deep researchers already know it and love, while being much cheaper to serve.

There have been a series of deep research tools launched recently on chatbots, including Google Gemini, Microsoft Co -Pilot and XAI Grok. Driving them is to reason with AI models, which have the ability to think about problems and verify the facts – the skills undoubtedly important to conduct in -depth research on a subject.
Chatgpt in -depth research will arrive at business and education users next week with the same levels of use as team users, says Openai.
