Owen Farrell remains a composure master capable of prospering in the test match arena, according to Ronan O’Gara.
Farrell made its first appearance in the tour of the British and Irish lions in 2025 in Australia, impressive in a 30-minute camée from the tourists’ victory bench 48-0 on an XV Aunz Invitational XV.
The Saracens and England at Midi fly were a shock to the team when head coach Andy Farrell turned to his son to replace Elliot Daly after his end of the end of tour.
Farrell marked his return from the Lions with a performance that O’Gara labeled “exceptional” which leaves him in the equation a week of the first test against the Wallabies in Brisbane.
“One of the stars was Owen Farrell, he added to the team because he did simple things,” Lions O’Gara said well lions well Sky Sports.
“He seemed to have all the time of the world. By quickly moving the ball, he made the other players look good. It was a massive positive for the lions, having a competitor like Farrell with them.
“It was exceptional. People undergoing its composure. A large part of what is happening in a test match concerns your ability to be composed and Farrell is a master of this.
“He looked in shape, he looked hungry. It will be a completely different test next week, but these are the moments when the test animals are excited, so pay attention to him, he could bring his game to another level.”
The former lunch of the Lions fly, Dan Biggar, who questioned the initial call of Farrell to the Lions team, thought that the 33 -year -old man had presented his capacities as a world class operator against Aunz XV but, the Wallabies posing a quality stage, he offered a note of power.
“I did not question Farrell’s ability in the team, I questioned the moment, replacing Elliot Daly who plays 15, 11 and 13, with a guy who plays 10 and 12,” said Biggar.
“He looked really good tonight, Owen. He moved the ball very well. He is a world class operator.
“If you choose it on a 6-2 bench, you are light in the three backs if you injure yourself, especially without Garry Ringrose to cover the wing. You are counting on a little luck each time you go with a split 6-2 or 7-1.
“Clearly, next Saturday will be a huge step in place compared to this evening, where the Lions were disciplined, Precis have made the Aunz team quite ordinary since they have very good players.”
While we are waiting for the announcement of Andy Farrell’s team for the first test, the British and Irish double lion Anthony Watson was undoubtedly left that his former teammate could still cut in the most pressurized situations.
“Owen has exactly the same impact,” said Watson. “If there is a kick to win it with 10 minutes to do, I don’t care how much he has launched in the past four weeks, I put the ball in his hands.”
Sky Sports will exclusively show the tour of the British and Irish lions in 2025 in Australia, with the three tests against the Wallabies and six warm -up matches to show exclusively live.
