Keegan Bradley has extended Tommy Fleetwood’s expectation for a first PGA Tour title after tearing up a dramatic victory in an exciting finish in the traveler championship.
Fleetwood took a three -stroke lead in the last day at TPC River Highlands and recovered from three Bogeys during his first four holes to stay at the top of the ranking before the fence holes.
Bradley was three years old with four to play, but closed on Fleetwood with a 35-foot birdie in the 15th, after having locked 65 feet earlier in his round, with the captain of the Ryder Cup being in the interior of one when his playing partner dropped the next one.
Fleetwood remained an advance towards the last hole, where he kicked the fringe for a closing bogey while Bradley pulled his six -foot approach and converted a winning birdie from the tournament.
Bradley’s dramatic arrival closed a 68 under two and saw him end the week on 15 sous, Fleetwood finishing a second place alongside Russell Henley after a final 68.
The advantage of Fleetwood night was immediately reduced to one by four, where he failed to get up and descend to save the peer of the Greenside bunker while Henley was a 12 -foot birdie.
The Englishman answered with a two -feet birdie to the next, where Henley dropped a shot, only to fall back into a share of the head alongside Bradley after three successive bogys on his following two holes.
Bradley built the sixth per-five but fell with Fleetwood after launching an extraordinary 65-foot step in the ninth per four, leaving the pair on 14 under the Tour while the hunting pack continued to group.
Fleetwood fell when Bradley dropped the 10th and doubled his advance with a 15-foot birdie in the next par-three, then saw a 20-foot attempt in the 12th per four to fail away from the target.
The two players took advantage of the 13th per -five, where Henley also sorted, while Bradley’s title challenge appeared in the following for -row – although Fleetwood missed a chance of six Birdie – after a Bogey dropped him three behind.
Bradley kept his apparently thin hopes after the long-distance holding company in 15th row, with Fleetwood’s head divided by two when he went from green for a long time to the next one and did not manage to go up and down for the peer.
Fleetwood safely has two hole to keep his advantage to a blow to the last one, where indecision with his approach shot let him end on the front edge.
A poor first putt finished seven feet from the hole and Fleetwood missed his next effort for the peer, letting him look at Bradley converted his putt to trigger wild celebrations on the 18th green.
Fleetwood finished equally with Henley, who moved away from the harsh on the last last to finish on the 14th, while Bradley’s victory is his eighth title of PGA Tour and improves the prospect that he is a captain to play the Ryder Cup in September.
“Really, really crazy,” said Bradley. “I felt like I was too far behind the whole day. I was just continuing, to continue. I had just feeling that I was too far behind the whole day, but I came here and I did the putts when I needed it.”
Harris English and Jason Day shared fourth place on 13 Under, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McILroy in the world n ° 1 in the second round after the two finals 65.
Tommy Fleetwood, speaking to CBS: “I am emptied. Some bad clubs in the last couple. I did not put well today after having taken well all week. There was a section on the nine rear where I should have taken control.
“I left one in the jaws out of 12 and I played well. On the 14th, a weak putt. The 16th, a hard from top to bottom. I felt good after flashed the journey out of 18 but we were wrong and left it in the worst place possible in front of the Keegan ball.
“Then I didn’t hit the best things.
Henley, speaking after her finalist: “He (Bradley) plays just with so much passion. He wants it, he wants to compete, he wants to win. It just means for him.
