Plane debris with 49 people on board found in the Far East of Russia: Interfax | News

The local emergency ministry claims that the plane fell from the radar near the Amur region, bordering China.

The debris of a Russian passenger plane carrying around fifty people were found in the Far East in Russia, said the Interfax news agency.

The local emergency ministry said Thursday that the AN-24 plane, operated by an airline based in Siberia called Angara, had deposited radar screens while approaching its destination in Tynda, a city in the region of Amur bordering China.

The regional governor Vasily Orlov said that, according to preliminary data, there were 43 passengers, including five children and six crew members on board.

“All the necessary forces and means have been deployed to search for the plane,” he wrote on Telegram.

The Ministry of Emergencies put the number of people on board a little lower, at around 40 years old.
