Snedeker succeeds Jim Furyk in the role of the biennial competition, with Team USA to continue a 11th consecutive record victory after their success of 18.5-11.5 on internationals last September.

The 44-year-old represented the United States team during his victory for the 2013 Presidents Cup and was Deputy Captain of Furyk in 2024, with the Captain of Snedeker to come a year after being part of the Keegan Bradley back-salle team at the Ryder Cup with Bethpage Black.

“It is an immense honor to be appointed Captain of American team for the 2026 presidents Cup by my peers, and I can’t wait to drive our guys to Medinah for what will certainly be an incredible week of golf,” said Snedeker.

“Representing my country in the team competition was a highest point in my PGA Tour career, and I will rely on this experiences to make sure that we are prepared and ready to compete with what I know will be a unified and determined international team.”

Ogilvy appeared in three consecutive sections of the presidents as a 2007 player, recording 7.5 points compared to his 14 games, with the Australian victories of eight PGA Tour – including the US Open 2006 – during his career.

The 47 -year -old was a captain’s assistant for each of the last four presidents of the Presidents Cup, including for Mike Weir in last year’s competition, Ogilvy now facing the captain for the first time.

“Since Erenie Els made her shield in 2019, the spirit of the international team has intensified and grew up because we have joined this symbol, which embodies our shared ambition and unifies the players and the fans,” said Ogilvy.

“I intend to bring this momentum forward, as well as the captains before me, to build strong support for our international players in the head and throughout the event.”

Medinah will become the fifth different place from the United States to welcome the Presidents Cup, after having previously been the place of the “Miracle at Medinah” Ryder Cup – where Europe has snatched a victory of 14.5-13.5 after a return of the last day – in 2012.

The international team has lost 13 of the 15 editions of the Presidents Cup since its launch in 1994, including each edition on American Soil, with their only victory in Melbourne in 1998.
