Rob Edwards: Middlesbrough names the former Luton boss as a new head coach to replace Michael Carrick | Football news

Middlesbrough appointed Rob Edwards as his new head coach for a three-year contract.

The 42 -year -old man, who left Luton in January, replaces Michael Carrick, who left Stadium Riverside earlier this summer after almost three years in charge.

Edwards would have refused the progress of other clubs, notably Bristol City, and beaten Steve Cooper and Danny Rohl at the post.

Edwards took Luton in the Premier League in his first season as a manager in 2022/23, but the hats were relegated after failing to stand on the last day of their first campaign on their return to the high flight.

He left Kenilworth Road in January with the 20th Hatters in the championship. They would later be relegated under the successor of Edwards, Matt Bloomfield, the last day of the championship in May.
