Russell Martin says that the Rangers will have new faces in the door when the club will face Panathinaikos in the second round of the Champions League qualifying on July 22.
The club has so far to add Lyall Cameron To their ranks this summer – with this transfer already agreed in February – with questions already on the way in which they fill the gap towards Celtic under their new boss.
But Martin, who took over in Ibrox on June 5, said that he is convinced that the club will have sufficient depth when their European excursions are starting in just over a month.
“I think we will have a few before the European match,” he said Sky Sports. “It will be sure. Honestly, I don’t know (how much).
“Everyone works extremely hard, this is what the main work was last week – identifying the character and talent we want in the building that can add us and add to the group and add culturally and in performance.
“I am enthusiastic about the people we are starting to look at, and we hope to add.”
Cyril Dessers was strongly linked to a distance from Ibrox, with Aek Athens interested in the Nigeria striker, but Martin said that he hoped that the striker will be one of his ranks when the team returns to training next week.
“The updates will come and when they are really real. By the minute, I expect Cyril to come back on Monday and I am delighted to work with him,” he said.
A bonus for Martin and Rangers is the diagnosis of John Souttar’s recovery after an injury, the Scottish defender who was to return in time for the double Panathinaikos header despite a minor operation during the pre-season.

Russell Martin reacted to the news that the first game of the Rangers of the Scottish Première season will be against Motherwell and revealed that he had exchanged messages with Jens Berthel Askou, a player with whom he previously played in Norwich.
Martin said: “John wants to play for his country, and so many players have been castigated for withdrawing international games for any reason. He had a minor injury but he desperately needed to play for his country, which I admire.
“The plan was there, everyone was aware of it and he had a minor operation, and I expect him to be in good shape for the Panathinaikos game. It didn’t really affect the preparation, he was able to leave and play and then be ready for us.”
Boyd: Rangers need players now
The former striker of the Rangers Kris Boyd feels less enthusiastic about the club’s transfer situation, and thinks that the signing of the players before Monday’s return for pre-season training should have been more a priority.
“He (Russell Martin) speaks so well, he is clear about his messages and he knows exactly what he should do,” he said Sky Sports News.
“But there is one thing that has that, but they have to bring the players and fans of the Rangers already start to ask” where are the players? “”
“They’re going to be back on Monday and you want to see the players enter, you want to see the group improve.
“There is no doubt that he must improve because last season, once again, was not good enough.”
Boyd added that the in -depth force was the largest area of improvement in rangers, compared to the favorites of the Scottish first and the oldest Celtic rivals.
“The Rangers have shown that they could beat Celtic, but during a season, Celtic is so far in terms of strength and depth they have,” he said.
“Rangers must start having players as competition for places, as it improves everyone.”
