Kyiv hits a base of strategic bombers in Engels while Russia is launching a series of drone strikes in eastern Ukraine.
Russian bombings in eastern Ukraine increased overnight, killing two people, while Ukraine hit the military aerodrome of Engels in Russia in the south-west region of Saratov with drones.
Russia and Ukraine have intensified air attacks in the early hours of Thursday as the United States President Donald Trump Pushes both parties to accept a cease-fire after more than three years of fighting.
Ukrainian officials in the northeast of Sumy and the Kharkiv regions said that two people had been killed and that several others injured after losing more than three dozen sliding bombs in the cities of the border regions.
Russian drone attacks against the city of Kropyvnytskyi, hundreds of kilometers from the front line, injured 14 people and damaged rail infrastructure.
“Kropyvnytskyi has suffered the most massive enemy attack. Peaceful residential buildings have been destroyed,” said regional governor Andriy Raikovych.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that the Russian dam, including on Kropyvnytskyi, was made up of 171 drones, 75 of which were slaughtered. 63 Others have been killed by electronic or lost scrambling systems.
Elsewhere, Ukraine struck the Russian air base in the Saratov region with attack drones overnight, causing fire and explosions in the region, the Ukrainian army announced on Thursday.
The air base welcomes Russian strategic bombers who are used to attack Ukraine and also has a warehouse holding cruising missiles and Glide bombs, said a Ukraine security service manager.
“This is important because … the city is home to the fleet of strategic bombers of Russia,” said Dorsa Jabbari of Al Jazeera, reported by Moscow. “This is not the first time that this area has been targeted, but it is the largest attack observed so far (since the start of the war in February 2022). A state of emergency has been declared.”
Regional authorities said 10 people were injured in the attack. Jabbari also noted that 30 civil houses and the city’s main hospital had suffered damage.
“According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, this is another sign that Ukraine is not serious about a peace regulation,” she said.
This last wave of tit-form attacks follows Russian president Vladimir Putin commitment A 30 -day strike of strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. However, he did not accept a complete ceasefire.
“It is just a partial ceasefire, concerning the energy infrastructure of each country. And it has not yet been implemented. Details will be fleshed up when negotiations take place in Saudi Arabia (in the coming days), “said Asd Baig d’Al Jazeera, postponing Kyiv.
“For the moment, the fighting is continuing,” he added. “The red line for Ukraine is that they will not recognize the Ukrainian territories occupied within the framework of the Russian Federation. So we are still moving up to the end of the war. ”
On Thursday, the Kremlin said that more American talks could take place on Sunday or early next week, because Washington should also hold interviews with kyiv in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Europe should continue to give solid support to Ukraine, regardless of everything talks between Washington and Moscow.
“We have to continue our support with a clear position that a just peace must be possible for Ukraine,” said the outgoing chancellor on Thursday while heading Thursday to a summit of European Union leaders.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has in turn accused European countries of planning to “militarize” rather than seeking conflict resolution.
