Struggle
- Ukrainian drones hit two Russian cities in attacks that have injured at least 16 people, local authorities announced.
- Thirteen people were injured, two seriously, when a drone struck a building in the Russian city in the south of Rostov-on-Don, and three civilians were injured in the city of Belgorod near the border with Ukraine.
- The Ukrainian army said its drones had struck a Russian refinery in the Volgograd region overnight, causing enormous fires.
- The Russian Defense Ministry said the Russian forces had captured the colonies of Shcherbynivka and Andriivka-Klevstsove in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
- Ukrainian troops stabilized an area in eastern Ukraine where Russian forces suddenly pushed this week to unravel the Ukrainian defenses, said the governor of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin.
- Ukraine said that small Russian infantry groups had pushed some 10 kilometers (six miles) to its main defensive line near the city of Dobropillia, which raises a wider breakthrough on the front line that would threaten the key Ukrainian cities more.
- The Russian advance, coming while US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin should come together in Alaska on Friday, seems to put kyiv to abandon the land in exchange for peace with Russia, observers said.

- Zelenskyy said he had a detailed discussion on any security guarantees for Ukraine during a “productive meeting” with the UK starmer.
- Zelenskyy said kyiv had so far obtained $ 1.5 billion from its European allies to buy American weapons as part of a mechanism – the initiative of the Ukraine requirements has prioritized priority – which, according to him, “really strengthens our defense”.
- French President Emmanuel Macron said Trump had expressed the will of European leaders on Wednesday that the United States and other allies should be part of the Ukrainian security guarantee to end the Russian war in Ukraine.
- The American Agency for International Development (USAID) has not monitored the uses of 5,175 Starlink Liaison Terminals sent to Ukraine, with almost half of the operational units being in areas fully or partly held by Moscow, according to a report by the agency’s internal guard dog.
Prisoners of war
- The United Arab Emirates have succeeded in publicizing a new exchange of captives between Russia and Ukraine. Some 84 captives were released on each side, bringing the total number exchanged by the mediation of water to 4,349.
- Ukraine brought back to the house 84 prisoners of war which included 51 civilians, said Ukrainian officials, at least one of whom had been detained for more than a decade.
Regional developments
- Russian president of the state of Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, met North Korean leader Kim Jong one during an official visit to Pyongyang, said the Russian parliament. Volodin, a close ally of Putin, asserted the greetings of the Russian chief and thanked Kim for the support of North Korea in the Russian military campaign in Ukraine.
Economy
- Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has ordered an examination of all licenses to exploit strategic minerals in the country, as part of a broader effort to help the war ravaged by war and guarantee new investments under a mineral agreement with the United States.
