Sunderland Work hard to make other additions to their team before the summer transfer window officially closes at 7 p.m. Monday.
Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie Affirms that the Black Cats have “hope” to accept an agreement to bring the central defender of Bologna, Jhon Lucumi, at the Light Stadium before the deadline.
The journalist reveals that the club has placed an offer of 24 million pounds sterling for international Colombia earlier this week, and they are now looking to move forward with a movement to break it.
Lucumi played 32 times in Serie A and seven times in the Champions League for Bologna last season, so that he can arrive as an experienced option for Regis Call in its background line.
Black Cats may not have strengthened their defense even if they are able to win an agreement for the Colombian Titan, however, as they also envisage a new goalkeeper.
According to the EFL analysisSunderland is interested in an agreement to sign Stoke City’s goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, before the deadline for transfer on Monday.
The report claims that the breakage wants to bring another goalkeeper to compete with Anthony Patterson and Robin Roefs in the Premier league This season, and has identified the Swedish international as a target.
He indicates that the boss of potters Mark Robins told the club not to sell Johansson before the end of the window, but he remains to be seen if he will get his wish while Swanderland plots a last blow for the Colossus.
If the Black Cats can convince Stoke to separate from their number one, the break could have an even better signature than Lucumi on his hands.
Lucumi won 60% of his duels in 32 appearances in the Serie A last season, by Sofascore, and could be a dominant defensive force for the club, but it is also subject to errors.
The 27 -year -old central rear made four errors that led to shots, three errors that led to goals, conceded a penalty and were sent once. No Sunderland player has made as many mistakes as all those combined in the 2024/25 championship by Sofascore.
It is a bit of concern because it suggests that Sunderland will sign a player who could cost them a lot through individual errors if these errors occur at key moments of the games.
Johansson, however, is a defensive presence, although in a very different position, which would not be as potential responsibility for Sunderland if they decided to make them their number one.

As you can see in the table above, the Swedish star rarely makes important errors and is an incredible shot, preventing almost 12 more goals that XG has been expecting last season.
For the context, Roefs prevented 5.20 goals in Eredivisia last season and is on -0.05 in his first two Premier League matches, which suggests that Johansson could be an upgrade on him as a shot.
The Stoke Star, which was hailed as “exceptional” By Robins, is an incredibly reliable goalkeeper who can make the extraordinary to bail out his team repeatedly, as his incredible statistics show.
This is why it could be an even better signature than Lucumi, which can be subject to significant errors and errors, for Sunderland if they can obtain a last -up contract on the line before the deadline.
