Streaming exceeds cable and broadcasting as the most watched television form

A new king now reigns in television terms.

Streaming has officially exceeded broadcasting and cable as part of the visualization of total television, According to Nielsen Data.

In May, streaming represented 44.8% of the audience, while the diffusion (20.1%) and the cable (24.1%) represented 44.2% of the overall praise together.

“While many expect this step to take place earlier, sporting events, news and new season content kept broadcasting and surprisingly resilient cable television,” said Brian Fuhrer, senior vices president at Nielsen, in a video of the Monthlyhip Monthred report in Nielsen. “The trend, however, was very consistent.”

Although Netflix has the most global use of television for four years in a row, YouTube has now seen four consecutive months to increase the share of television, said Nielsen. The platform, owned by Google and its parent company Alphabet, owned the largest share of television consumption among all streamers in May, with a share of 12.5%. The first five were Netflix, the platforms belonging to Disney, notably ESPN and Hulu, the main video of Amazon and the Roku channel.

The three biggest so -called free and supported services by advertising or fast channels – Pluto TV of Paramount, the Roku and Fox’s Tubi channel – combined 5.7% of the total television visualization in May, more than any individual diffusion network.

The overall share of streaming should stay in the shoulder with the traditional television counter for a while before it exceeds it permanently in the near future, Nielsen said.
