The rescue group said that civilians had been “killed either by wandering bullets or direct executions” at the camp, located on the northern outskirts of El-Fasher, the last big city in Darfur still owned by the Sudanese army.

The RSF besieged El-Fasher, the capital of the state of Darfur du Nord, since May 2024.

The local resistance committee, a group of pro-democracy volunteers, confirmed the results of at least 40 killed in the attack on Monday.

The group condemned what he called “horrible violations committed against innocent and unarmed persons”.

In recent months, El-Fasher and the nearby travel camps have undergone renewed RSF attacks after the paramilitary capital has been pushed back from the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, by the army in March.

A major RSF offensive in April on the Zamzam camp moved tens of thousands of people, and many looked for a shelter in El-Fasher.

War and famine

The war between the army of Sudan and the RSF killed tens of thousands of people, moved millions and created what the United Nations describes as the greatest crisis of travel and world hunger.

THE conflict in fact divided the country in two with the army holding the north, the east and the center while the RSF dominates almost all of the Darfur and certain parts of the South.

Last year, famine was declared in three camps around El-FafasherIncluding Abu Shouk, and the UN warned that it could spread to the city by May.

But data shortages have prevented an official declaration.

In a community cuisine in El-Fasher, the organizers said that some of the children and women they serve arrive there with swollen belly, sunk and signs of acute malnutrition, according to AFP news agency.

Meanwhile, in the state of northern Kordofan at the Central Sudan, the RSF was accused of having moved more than 3,000 families of 66 villages due to fighting since early August, according to Sudan Doctors Network.

The group also said that the RSF had looted their properties and stole their money and its cattle.

The displaced people ended up arriving in Khartoum and the Blanche provinces last week.

The recent attacks against the villages of the province killed 18 civilians and injured dozens, according to the last UN update.
