The Premier League has no influence on the decision or calendar of the case surrounding the multiple accusations of Manchester City for alleged violation of its financial rules, said its general manager Richard Masters Sky Sports News.
In 2023, City was responsible for breaking the rules of the financial show over a period of nine years, which began in 2009 and continued until 2018. They were also responsible for not cooperating with the Premier League surveys on their finances.
When the Premier League billed the city, its press release detailed alleged rules which increased up to 115, but it is believed that the actual number is 130. Man City – which won three Premier League titles at this period – denied all the charges.
A 12 -week audience behind the fenced doors took place between September and December of last year.
The period between the hearing and the judgment of the independent panel presiding over the case was to take several months due to the volume of the costs and the amount of the information to be examined.
However, there is currently no verdict with the 2025-26 season from a few days.
Speaking from Wednesday to 115 days after the end of the hearing – Masters said Sky Sports News: “I cannot talk about it. Our rules are very specific, they say that we cannot talk about things as the accusations are made and not as long as a decision has been published. We are still waiting for this decision, and I cannot talk about the calendar and speculate when it can be.
“What I can talk to you about is about the system and how it works: it is an independent judicial system. Once allegations and accusations have been put forward, they are in front of an independent panel which is selected independently. And they are then in charge of the process and its schedules.
“They hear the case, they decide the result. We have no influence on this or its timing. And it is just an independent point of view, you have independent people who make these decisions. And we just have to wait.”
When asked if he was frustrated by the long waiting of a verdict, Masters replied: “My frustration is not relevant. I just have to wait. Legal processes rarely take less time than expected. We must be patient.”
