The angels manager Ron Washington is missing the rest of the season with an unrecognized medical problem

Anaheim, California – Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington will miss the rest of the season due to an unrecognized medical problem, the team announced on Friday.

Washington, the oldest manager of major leagues at 73, was sidelined for last week.

He experienced breathlessness and seemed tired towards the end of a four -game series of the New York Yankees which ended on June 19. Washington returned to Southern California, has undergone a series of tests and was placed on medical leave.

Angels Bench coach Ray Montgomery, who replaced Washington last week, was appointed acting director. Infield coach Ryan Gois was promoted to the bench coach.

Washington has 664-611 in 10 seasons as manager of major leagues, eight with Texas and two with Los Angeles.

He led the Rangers to consecutive appearances of the World Series in 2010 and 2011 before resigning suddenly in September 2014. Washington returned to sport as a athletics trail and the Braves of Atlanta, which won the World Series in 2021, before winning a second management job in the county of Orange.

The angels were 40 to 40 people entering the Friday evening match against the Washington Nationals on a visit, winning three in a row under Montgomery and seven out of 10 in total. Los Angeles played better than most expected from a team with major sequences from the major consecutive seasons and 10 consecutive non-Playoff seasons.

Montgomery, 55, obtained his first job as director of the major league. The origin of the New York Westchester County is a former Houston Astros voltiseur who was director of scouting for Arizona and Milwaukee before joining the Angels as Director of Player Staff for the 2020 season.

Montgomery became coach of the Los Angeles bench in 2021 after the director general Perry Minasian resumed the front office, and he stayed with the Angels while Joe Maddon, Phil Nevin and Washington managed the club.

Gois played eight seasons in major leagues before Washington hired him as coach on the Angels’s field before the 2024 season.
