Trent Rockets won his first hundred’s first victory in a categorical way against the London spirit previously undefeated in Lord’s.
Captain of England Nat Sciver-Brunt led the Rockets to 149 for six with half aid half-century, and they overthrew the reigning champions for 116 with five remaining balls to win a 33-point victory.
The operators Bryony Smith and Natasha Wraith set the tone to visitors to Lord’s with a partnership of 62 for the opening window – Smith marking 23 balls.
Both fell in Eva Gray, who then rejected Heather Graham and Emma Jones in successive bullets, but Sciver-Brunt remained in the fold and finished her undefeated sleeves on 51 29 balls.
London Spirit lost counters at regular intervals, with only Kira Chathli, Cordelia Griffith and Charli Knott reaching the double characters, while Kirstie Gordon claimed four counters for only 15 points on 20 balls.
Ash Gardner took 2-14.
Sciver-Brunt said: “It’s great (to get a first victory for the tournament), we were all really excited to play Lord’s, what a field.
“And then to get points on the board – we feel like we have done well in the fixes (in the first two games), but it was really good to bring everything together.
“Ash Gardner is massively important for us, it is our versatile main and it really leads us, and puts its foot on it.”
