Scientists have created a cookie that contains a special ingredient for Help people lose weight.
It is according to a early study which added a new ingredient to the confectionery in an attempt to Make people are less hungry.
The team of the University of Eastern Piedmont in Italy presented its preliminary conclusions at the European Congress on obesity in Malaga, Spain.
The researchers said they added a bitter compound of the Artemisia Absinthium plant, also known as Wormwood, to an ordinary dark chocolate cookie.
A test out of 11 healthy people revealed that the bitter ingredient made participants feel more.
Participants received two different formulas, a cocoa cookie and another which had an enriched bitter flavor using 16% extract from Artemisia Absinthium.
Food desires were then measured using a questionnaire on how they felt full after eating.
The researchers found those who ate the special cookies I felt less hungry and saw an increase in satiety hormones compared to those who ate the cocoa nature cookie.
The bitter taste in the added compound regulates how the body releases hunger hormone ghrelin and GLP-1, a hormone that also regulates blood sugar, appetite and digestion, explained the authors of the study.
It is also the same hormone targeted with jabs of weight loss such as the treatment of Wegovy and Diabetes as Ozempic.
This hormone reduces food desires and slows down the speed with which food is digested.
This can reduce the level of glucose is absorbed in the blood circulation. As a result, it makes those who take it more longer, eat less and lose weight.
The author of the study, Dr. Flavia Promam, explained that all the people who ate the bitter cookie reported lower hunger levels before dinner, but not at another time of the day.
The cookies that have been described as “very tasty” could be sold commercially to help people lose weight, according to Dr. Prometam.
The team now plans to launch a clinical trial to study how the cookie affects food intake in obese patients.
Dr. Prometam said: “It is an important thing to target because we have to educate people to eat less, but there are a lot of failures. The emotional part of food is important in obesity.
“People want comforting foods, so having one that decreases hunger could be a good strategy.”
