The Denver Zoo will end early on Saturday due to an “takeover” inspired by the planned social media in the zoo surrounding the zoo by a large group of adolescents.
A zoo spokesperson Said the affiliate of NBC Kusa That he will open at 7:30 am and close at 1 pm due to the meeting, which is called “Takeover City Park” online.
A similar event took place in the city last weekend, with hundreds of teenagers descending to the Northfield Mall, causing the rupture of certain fights which implied the response of the police, Kusa reported.
It is not clear if there is a specific group organizing events.
“We do not know the exact nature of the event, but we know that the previous events organized in a similar way have resulted in a disturbance of local businesses, damage, vandalism, things like that”, the spokesperson Jake Kubie said kusa.
Kubie said early closure was a precaution against any disturbance.
“We do not think that we are a target of anything. We have not received any information that suggests that there will be an impact for us,” he said. “We are always looking towards caution on everything else.”
No arrest was made and no property was damaged during the event last weekend, Kusa reported.
The Denver police department said in a statement that he was aware of the events of “redemption” in the city and “plans to try to minimize the impact of these events”.
Cuba said kusa that the zoo is “prepared”.
“Being a zoo – a campus of 80 acres with 2,500 wild animals and nearly 2 million guests coming each year – it is our responsibility to be prepared for everything that can happen,” he said. “Fortunately, we have had no incident in this direction, but we are ready for anything that can happen.”
