Salvador Plasencia did not provide Perry with the deadly dose but admitted to having obtained ketamine for the use of the actor.
Doctor Salvador Plasencia pleaded guilty to illegally supplied Ketamine drugs to Matthew Perry, a star of the successful television show Friends, in the contribution of the overdose and the death of the actor in 2023 in the United States.
On Wednesday, Plasencia appeared before the Federal Court of judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in Los Angeles to conclude his advocacy as part of an agreement with the prosecutors.
Plasencia had already pleaded not guilty. But when approaching his date of trial in August, he and his defense lawyers reached an agreement that would see his legal danger lowering.
In exchange for the guilty plaids of Plasencia to four charges of illegal distribution of Ketamine, the prosecutors abandoned three additional charges of illegal distribution and two chiefs of falsification of the files.
Questioned by judge Garnett, Plasencia said that her lawyers had exhausted all their pleasure and conviction options: “They considered everything.”
In a statement thereafter, one of his lawyers, Debra White, transmitted the regrets of Plasencia and indicated that the doctor would no longer practice professional medicine.
“Dr. Plasencia has deeply remorse for the treatment decisions he has taken while providing Ketamine to Matthew Perry,” said White.
“He fully accepts responsibility by pleading guilty to the distribution of drugs. Dr. Plasencia intends to voluntarily yield his medical license, recognizing his failure to protect Mr. Perry, a particularly vulnerable patient because of dependence. ”

A autopsy report Released in December of the same year credited Perry’s death to the “acute effects” of ketamine, while recognizing other factors. Perry’s coronary disease, for example, has probably contributed to his death, as well as to his long -term difficulties with the consumption of drugs.
Perry had legally used ketamine to treat its depression. But confronted with limits with the amount that could be prescribed, Perry would have started looking for additional drug sources outside the legal channels.
Plasencia did not provide Perry with the fatal dose of ketamine, according to prosecutors.
But before the court on Wednesday, he admitted that he had provided Perry with Ketamine in the month preceding his death, including 20 bottles which contained a total of 100 milligrams of drugs.
The doctor also admitted having administered an injection and monitoring the point of the blood pressure from Perry. He also said that he had left it for the injection of Perry to inject.
In the court documents of a separate case, scholarship holder Doctor Mark Chavez Plasencia accused of recruiting it to provide ketamine to sell to Perry.
“I wonder how much this moron will pay,” Plasencia said in a text message to Chavez. The prosecutors said that the sale of ketamine had allowed $ 4,500.
Plasencia is the fourth accused of pleading guilty to accusations linked to the death of Perry.
A fifth accused, Jasveen Sangha, pleaded not guilty. The authorities accused Sangha of having given Perry his deadly dose and say that she was a drug trafficker known as “Ketamine Queen”. His trial will start in August.
