The Norwegian Refugee Council claims that the “deliberate denial of access to energy” undermines human needs in Gaza.

The CNRC report noted that without power, health establishments in Gaza have been negatively impacted, emergency surgeries having to be delayed, and fans, incubators and dialysis machines unable to operate.
The lack of electricity also had an impact on Gaza desalination facilities, leaving 70% of households without access to drinking water and forcing households to burn plastic or debris to cook, CNRC said.
The humanitarian organization also stressed how the lack of power increased the risk of sexist violence after nightfall.
“For too long, the inhabitants of Gaza have endured cycles of conflict, blocking and deprivation. But the current crisis represents a new depth of despair, threatening their immediate survival and their long -term perspectives of the recovery and development,” said CNRC secretary general Jan Egeland, urging the international community to ensure that people in Gaza de Gaza.
