An artist of the Super Bowl half-time show was charged Thursday by two crimes, around 4 1/2 months after crossing the field to the Superdome by waving a flag which included the words “Sudan and Gaza Libre”, said the police of the state of Louisiana.
Zoul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, 41, went to the authorities to face charges to resist a police officer and disrupt peace by interrupting a legal assembly, police announced. He went to coordination with his lawyer and was sentenced to the parish center of Orleans.
Nantambu revealed the flag and ran on the field during the performance of rapper Kendrick Lamar on February 9. He was detained on the ground after his demonstration but was not loaded. The NFL declared at the time that it would be prohibited for life of league stages and events.
According to a police statement, Nantambu had been hired as an additional interpreter and “had permission to be on the ground during the representation, but did not have permission to demonstrate as he did”.
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy thanked the investigators for their work.
“We keep any attempt to disrupt any part of an NFL match, including the half-time show, very seriously and we are delighted that this person will be held responsible for most of the law,” McCarthy said in a statement.
