The Israeli government approves Netanyahu’s dismissal of Bet Shin’s head

CAIRO – The Israeli government unanimously approved early Friday a proposal from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reject Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, said Prime Minister’s office.

“Ronen Bar will conclude his duties on April 10 or when an ISA permanent director is appointed-according to the first possibility,” he added.

Netanyahu told the head of the domestic intelligence service on Sunday that He will ask the government to approve his dismissal this week.

Justifying his decision, Netanyahu said that he had long lost confidence in a bar and this confidence in the head of the domestic security service, whose roles include the fight against terrorism and security for government officials, was particularly crucial at the time of war.

Bar dismissal is likely to arouse generalized criticism in the midst of a new Israeli offensive Gaza With dozens of Israeli hostages that are always held there.

The war was triggered by Hamas’ terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, one of the worst security failures of Israel, which led to the murder of 1,200 people, and to the capture of 251 people who were taken to Gaza as hostages, according to the Israeli number.

The Israeli campaign killed more than 49,000 people in Gaza, according to Palestinian health authorities, and caused a humanitarian crisis with shortages of food, fuel and water.
