A few minutes after Crenshaw’s order, Judge Paula Xinis in Maryland made an order preventing the government from taking Garcia in police custody in Tennessee.

“The court shares the continuous concern of the complainants that, in the absence of significant guarantees, defendants can once again withdraw Abrego Garcia from the United States without having restored it to the status quo and without regular procedure,” Xinis wrote in the order of Wednesday.
