Now known for his role of expertise and co-recommented, Chris Sutton was a goalscorer during his play days and moved to Celtic Park in 2000.
The Englishman had played for Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers before joining Chelsea in 1999, and after a 12 -month visit to Stamford Bridge, went to Scotland for 6 million pounds Sterling.
Sutton would score more than 80 goals in just under 200 appearances for The Hoops, winning eight major honors in Scotland.
Sutton’s strike partner at Celtic was the Welshman John Hartson, who also cost 6 million pounds Sterling a year later in 2001 from Coventry City.
Central center-center, Hartson actually made more appearances for Celtic than any other club he represented, by ahead of their hoop careers. He won six major honors in Parkhead before being sold in West Brom in 2006.
After several loan spells in Tottenham, Cameron Carter-Vickers found a permanent house in Parkhead in 2022 after a successful season with the hoops a year earlier.
Celtic paid Tottenham 6 million pounds sterling for the American central defender, who has become forcibly in Glasgow and has since been linked to a transfer of mega-money in the Premier League.
Auston Trusty, another American defender to join Celtic, who took precedence in 2024 after the relegation of Sheffield United since the Premier League.
Trusty made 37 appearances in his first season as a hoop player, winning two trophies. It is under contract until 2029.
Portuguese winger Jota played a loan from Benfica Celtic in the 2021/22 season, and his transfer was made permanent for 6.5 million pounds Sterling at the end of the campaign.
The attacker would become a favorite of fans and will improve another year later when the hoops won the triples, however, he was then sold in Al Ittihad for 25 million pounds sterling. More on Jota to come …
The central rear imposing Christopher Jullien became the first summer signature of Celtic in 2019, with Neil Lennon, the manager to sign the French defender.
Unfortunately, Jullien suffered injuries during his stay with the hoops and was sold in Montpellier for a fraction of the costs in 2022.
After a failed period in Saudi Arabia, Jota was then sold in Rennes in France, but again had trouble reaching the summits of his stay at Celtic.
The hoops were then in negotiations to sell Kyogo Furuhashi on the side of Ligue 1 in 2025, and they used the money to bring Jota back to Parkhead in an agreement worth 8 million pounds sterling.
Thus, in total, Celtic spent just under 15 million pounds Sterling for Jota in two transfers, while selling it once for 25 million pounds sterling.
After playing on loan from Paris Saint-Germain during the 2017/18 season, Celtic made the transfer of Odsonne Edouard permanent for a record of 8 million pounds then.
The hoops of the time described him as the “greatest transfer” in their history, the French striker continuing to score goals for fun in Scotland. Celtic has always made a healthy profit on Edouard, hosting 14 million pounds sterling when Crystal Palace arrived on the day of the deadline in 2021.

Adam Idah was another striker who cost a lot of money after impressive. The International of the Republic of Ireland spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign in Parkhead of Norwich City and scored great goals for hoops, including a late winner in their Scottish Cup final against the Rangers.
Celtic then spent 9.5 million pounds sterling on the Idah and gave him a five -year agreement in Glasgow.
The top of the graphics as the most expensive signature of Celtic of all time is the Arne Engels midfielder. The Belgian joined the same as the Idah that the hoops really splashed the money in 2024.
Engels, who was only 20 years old when he signed, played in his first season, winning the Scottish Premierhip and the Scottish League Cup.
