The Trump administration said that around half of the troops deployed to help enforce the immigration raids would leave the city.
The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth ordered the withdrawal of 2,000 troops from the National Guard to Los Angeles, about half of the federal troops deployed in the city, said the Pentagon.
President Donald Trump ordered some 4,000 national guard and 700 navies in Los Angeles in early June to help enforce Federal immigration raids in the middle of Generalized protests.
According to figures from the Ministry of Internal Security, cited by NBC Los Angeles, the raids led to the arrest of 2,792 undocumented immigrants.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed on Tuesday the release of 2,000 California national guards “from the Federal Protective Mission”. He said the decision was due to the fact that “anarchy in Los Angeles lights up”.
Mayor Karen Bass described withdrawal as a “retirement”, crediting the success of peaceful demonstrations and legal actions.
“It happened because the inhabitants of Los Angeles united and were strong,” said Bass.
“We organized peaceful demonstrations, we gathered during rallies, we brought the Trump administration. All of this led to today’s retirement,” said the Democrat mayor.
She referred to a trial that the city joined who led to an order of a federal judge who prohibited immigration agents from holding people based solely on their race or to speak Spanish.
Federal troops deployed in Los Angeles are authorized to hold people who constitute a threat to federal staff or goods, but only until the police can arrest them.
Military officials are not allowed to arrest themselves.
Responding to the withdrawal of certain troops, the California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom said that “thousands of members are still federalized in Los Angeles without reason and cannot exercise their critical duties through the state”.
“Finish this theater and send everyone back to home,” he added in an article on social networks.
Despite the legal challenges, a American court Trump allowed Trump to maintain control of the California National Guard, the first to be deployed by an American president against the wishes of a state governor since 1965.
The Newsom office said at the end of June that the California National Guard fire fighting teams “operated only 40% due to the deployment of Trump’s illegal guard”, while fires “appeared in the state” devastating fires torn Los Angeles.

The Californian capital is also one of the many so-called “sanctuary” cities in the United States, providing protection against deportation to hundreds of thousands of undocumented people who live there.
Trump promised to deport millions of people in the country without documentation and executed raids on work sites, including farms that were largely exempt from the application during his first mandate. The administration was faced with dozens of prosecution across the country contesting its tactics.
Trump is also increasingly turned to the military in his repression of immigration.
In addition to sending troops to Los Angeles, thousands of troops in active service have been deployed on the border with Mexico, and the Pentagon created military zones in the border area.
The areas are intended to allow the Trump administration to use troops to hold migrants without invoking the 1807 insurgency law which allows a president to deploy the American army to suppress events such as civil disorders.
A Recent survey Immigration support has shown that immigration has increased since last year, while support for mass expulsion of undocumented immigrants has dropped.
