Leader of the Florida State minority minority Jason Pizzo announced Thursday that he was leaving the Democratic Party.
“Here is the problem, the Democratic Party in Florida is dead,” said Pizzo in remarks on the Senate soil.
He said he had sent a voter registration form to modify his partial affiliation to “no party affiliation”.

Pizzo said that the state’s political system looked like “intestine struggles, power struggles, corruption and the decline of civic virtue that have impregnated and ultimately inaugurated the fall of Rome”.
“The same goes for players, or perhaps accessories, out of a disorder that is the bottom of the partisanary,” said Pizzo.
Pizzo, who is considered a potential candidate for the governor next year, said he felt released by his decision.
“I think that undressing the title of the designation of the party allows me to run free and clear, clean and transparent and to help a lot, much more,” he said in his remarks.
Pizzo, which was elected for the first time in the State Senate in 2018, represents a district which includes parts of the counties of Broward and Miami-Dade. Previously, he was state assistant lawyer at the office of the Miami-Dade state prosecutor.
The president of the State Democratic Party Nikki Fried said in a press release that the State Party was “more united without him”.
“Jason Pizzo is one of the most ineffective and unpopular Democratic leaders in recent memory, and his resignation is one of the best things that had been in the party for years,” said Fried. “His heritage as a leader continuously understands the denigrality of the party base, the start of fighting with other members and the pursuit of his own personal ambitions to the detriment of democratic values.”
Pizzo did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the Fried Declaration.
The Senate Democrats elected senator Lori Berman as their new leader a few hours after the announcement of Pizzo. Berman was elected to the Senate in 2018 to represent part of the county of Palm Beach after having served at the State House. Berman did not immediately respond to a request for comments Thursday evening.
Other legislators have left the Democratic Party in recent months include state representatives. Susan Valdes And Hillary Casselwho announced passengers to the Republican Party in December.
