The extreme heat will continue in a large part of the plains of southern New England, with more than 150 million people under thermal alerts.
Record temperatures are probably Tuesday in the Northeast and Florida, where temperatures could climb down 100. Hartford, Connecticut; Newark, New Jersey; Tampa and Orlando in Florida; And Philadelphia are certain cities that could see record heights.
Air quality alerts have also been issued from Rhode Island to Delaware.
