Two injured after three buildings collapsed after the explosion in Philadelphia

At least two women were injured after three buildings collapsed in an explosion and fires in Philadelphia early Sunday morning, according to the city’s fire service.

The Philadelphia Fire Service said that he had responded to the scene to the 1900 West Bristol Street around 4:50 am following an explosion report. It was found that three houses “exploded on themselves”, which led to a fire, said Daniel McCarty, acting executive chief of the fire department.

“Preliminary reports where there were trapped people,” said McCarty. “We were able to locate two residents and transport them to hospitals in the region, both being elderly women, a critical, a stable.”

There have been “secondary collapse” near the house which would be the source of “primary explosion,” said McCarty, adding that at least five houses were affected. The area is an active fire scene.

The cause of the explosion is not known at the moment. The firefighters’ marshals are on the scene and a collapse area was created in case additional collapses occur, said McCarty. Ten people were evacuated from the region.

A team of firefighters also examines the rubble and debris to find additional people who could be at home, he said.

McCarty described the scene as “chaotic” and said that the emphasis is placed on which additional houses are not affected by the incident.

“The most important thing is the stability of the surrounding houses, making sure that this danger is not spreading,” said McCarty. “Our men and women from the fire service will go with their special operations business to ensure that no one is carried on this block. It will therefore be a vast operation all day long for the Philadelphia fire service. ”

It is a story in development. Please check the updates.
