Khamzat Chimaev completely dominated Dricus du Plessis to win the UFC average weight championship at the UFC 319 on Saturday evening.
The wrestling specialist born at La Chechen, Chimaev, won a unanimous victory over the dashboard of the judges, stifling with the plebicly of his grappling.
Chimaev set the tone in the first minute, pulling for early withdrawal to bring the fight to the carpet and pinning the South African in the crucifix position before raining punches with his left hand, but the blows did little damage and the Plessis survived.
The second round started in the same way that the 31 -year -old again brought the fight to the carpet. This time, Chimaev was held on the back of his opponent as a pacon to threaten with knee strikes and attempted strangulation, and Plessis was spent in the third and fourth rounds in similar positions.
There was a brief ribbon of hope at the end of the last framework, because Du Plessis finally managed to put himself in a threatening position, but it was too little, too late, and Chimaev was declared victorious – the three judges marking the fight 50 to 44 in his favor.
“I never have a plan.
“This guy is strong, I could not finish, respect this guy, he is the only champion to say my name,” added Chimaev on Plessis. “This guy has a real heart, a real lion, a real African lion.”
Du Plessis took its dethronement with good grace before promising to win the title.
“He deserves this 100%, he beat me right and square tonight,” he said.
“He was the best man tonight, and I will come back. I’m going to come and get my belt, but for the moment, he is worth it, and he must enjoy it.”
