Waymo and Toyota come out together. If they become serious, a new autonomous vehicle could be created.

Waymo and Toyota have agreed to explore a possible case that could one day lead to a new vehicle designed for tension and even bring autonomous technology to the general public cars.

The two companies have signed a preliminary agreement to examine the development and deployment of an autonomous vehicle platform, according to a Blog published by Waymo. The language used by companies is vague – and is essentially summed up with an arrangement of Togque. A spokesperson said that more details will be shared if there is a final agreement.

The objective, if Waymo and Toyota are officially partners, is double. Companies would combine their respective forces to develop a new autonomous vehicle platform that would be used for a Robotaxi service. Companies would also plan to bring Waymo technology to the next generation of Toyota vehicles sold to consumers.

The scope of collaboration will continue to evolve through current discussions, Waymo said in the blog post.

“Toyota undertakes to carry out a company with traffic accidents and to become a mobility company that offers mobility for all,” said Hiroki Nakajima, member of the board of directors and executive vice-president of Toyota Motor Corporation, in a press release, adding the automated actions “a Package and a Sense of the goal and a common vision with Waymo in the security of automated technologies.

The moment of the announcement, although vague, is notable. Last week, the CEO of Alphabet Sundar Pichai made remarks when calling the company’s profits that suggested Waymo was considering autonomous vehicles belonging to anyone. Waymo vaguely talked about the granting of licenses before. However, it was the first time that the senior leader of his parent company spoke publicly of the possibility.

While Waymo went from a research and development program to a commercial operation, the company has sought by partnership with other companies. Waymo has a Robotaxi service in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin and soon Atlanta. Historically, Waymo has managed all aspects of Robotaxi’s activity, including the operations of the application, maintenance and carpooling.

It has changed in recent months. Waymo hired Moove to manage his fleet of AVS in Phoenix. He also has Turned to Uber Share the responsibility for Robotaxi’s operations in Austin, and soon in Atlanta.

Under the so-called “Waymo on Uber” service, Waymo is responsible for vehicle tests, road assistance and certain aspects of the support of the horsemen. Uber manages fleet services such as vehicle cleaning, maintenance, inspections, load and deposit operations via a company called Avomo.
