Waymo is well to extend the Robotaxi service in more than Silicon Valley

The California Public Utilities Commission approved Waymo’s request to extend its Robotaxi service area, opening the door to the company Alphabet to bring its driver -free vehicles in more communities south of San Francisco.

The company said that in a position on X approval will not change his plans in the short term. Today, Waymo operates a commercial rootaxi service in all San Francisco as well as in certain parts of the peninsula. It also provides driver -free walks to paid customers in several cities in Silicon Valley, including Mountain View games, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale. In all, the company’s service area is around 85 square miles covering San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

The company also aims to unlock Access to San Francisco International AirportAlthough these plans are on a much longer chronology. Waymo received authorization in March to map the roads to SFO via a temporary license. Waymo vehicles will not work independently at the airport; Employees will manually lead vehicles to map the area. But the permit indicates the start of a progressive approach to Waymo finally operating there commercially.

Waymo provides 250,000 trips paid each week in its operations, which extends to Los Angeles,, Phoenixand more recently Austin.
