European leaders rush to convince American president Donald Trump to use his next summit with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to amplify the pressure on Moscow to end the Ukraine war in terms of acceptable terms for kyiv.

“We cannot accept that the territorial problems between Russia and America are discussed or even decided beyond the heads of Europeans, above the Ukrainian leaders,” said Merz in a television interview on Sunday.

Ceasefire first
