YouTube updates the shopping experience of shorts, the company announcement Wednesday. The platform is launching new purchasing products stickers to facilitate that viewers know that the products used in the short film are shopping.
New stickers could be a way for creators to increase their income. During its tests last month, YouTube found that shorts with purchasing products stickers saw more than 40% more clicks on products than shorts with the purchase button, he said.
Previously, the labeled products were displayed in a banner in the lower left corner of the shorts with a purchase button. Click on the banner has opened a list of products available for viewers to cover and shopping.
Now creators can label the products in their short to automatically generate a sticker depending on the first product they have marked. They can then adjust the size and placement of the sticker.
When several products are labeled in a short film, viewers can press the arrow down on the sticker to see the full list of products. Once they have clicked on a product that interests them, they will be redirected to the retailer’s website for this product.
The purchasing products stickers are deployed over the next week and will be available worldwide, expect in South Korea, but YouTube plans to start functionality soon.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan revealed to Cannes Lions 2025 that shorts are now more than more than 200 billion daily views. Mohan also shared this Google I Watch 3 Video GeneratorsWho can generate both video and audio, will arrive in shorts later this summer.
